Altar Guild

Members of the Altar Guild are responsible for furnishing and preparing the elements of Holy Communion for the regular services the first Sunday of each month, as well as any special services throughout the year such as Easter and Christmas; laundering the linens used in Holy Communion; changing altar paraments with seasonal colors; keeping sanctuary and altar area neat; filling pew pockets with prayer cards, offering envelopes and pencils; keeping attendance books filled with pads and pencils; and maintaining candles on altar and for Acolytes.

Bethel Historical Society

The Bethel Historical Society is a community organization whose purpose is to preserve, protect and record the history of the original Bethel Church building and its surroundings. Restoration efforts are continuing for the main worship area and there are plans for a museum in the basement. The society meets monthly and is open to everyone.


Emmaus is an ecumenical program of spiritual renewal and growth. A weekend retreat is sponsored at least four times each year. Small groups and monthly meetings are held for continuing community support. Handbell Choir

Handbells are not currently practicing or playing in services. If interested, contact Jan Womer.

Prayer Society

The Society of Prayer is an organization of people within the Bethel United Methodist Church who are growing in faith and witness through prayer. The Society is committed to intercessory prayer. Everyone is welcome to participate in any function of the Prayer Society.

Activities of the Prayer Society include:

  • Intercessory Prayer - Prayer concerns that are read on Sunday are e-mailed to people who will pray over these concerns during the week. Prayer support is also offered on Communion Sunday by members of the Prayer Society.

Chancel Choir & Praise Band

Praise band and chancel choir are still rehearsing but praise band is not leading an 11:30 services right now. If you’d like to join either group contact Joe Swetnam or Brandon Boling.
